Haryana: Man strangles daughter to death for chatting on phone for long hours, arrested

A man has strangled his underage daughter to death for allegedly chatting on the phone for long hours in Haryana’s Sonipat. The accused, who was arrested, said he was afraid of being humiliated in the village and therefore killed her.

A man has been arrested for strangling his underage daughter to death for allegedly chatting with someone on the phone for long hours in Sonipat district of Haryana. The girl’s father, identified as Mohammad Nur, has been taken into custody and a murder case has been filed against him.

The man had warned his daughter not to use the cell phone for long hours and was upset with her behavior.

Sonipat (ASP) Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepti Garg said: “We have received reports of the death of an underage girl in Bhadana village. Upon reaching the crime scene, family members of the deceased said she fell from the stairs, her death. But the preliminary investigation revealed that the girl had been strangled to death. We took the accused into custody.

DETAINED ACCUSED

During interrogation, Noor told police that her daughter was always busy chatting on her mobile phone for long hours. I was fed up and I was also afraid of the humiliation I would suffer in the village if she got caught. So I planned to kill her.”

Police say the accused and family members tried to mislead them by saying the girl died after falling from the stairs. The accused will appear in local court today.
