Badau: In a tragic incident reported in Badaun district, Uttar Pradesh, an emergency medical technician (EMT) stationed in an ambulance hanged himself during a video call with his ‘relative’. The incident happened on Saturday in a building of the Bisauli community health center (CHC).

The deceased has been identified as Devendra Kumar Yadav. The victim’s relative immediately informed his colleagues of the alleged hanging. After the incident, the video call lasted at least 40 minutes. Later, the police arrived at the scene with colleagues of the victim and recovered the body.

Police recovered the cell phone and sent the body for an autopsy. This incident took place in the former CHC building in Bisauli. Yadav, from Qayampur village under Qayamganj police station in Farrukhabad, had been living in a room in the building for seven years, according to a report by Hindi daily Hindustan.

The deceased Yadav was assigned to the 108 ambulance service. On the face of it, police are treating the death as a case of suicide. However, no suicide note was found at the scene. Police say they are investigating the reason for the suicide.

Police say the deceased was video chatting with a “relative” and was hanged during the call. The video call continued even after his death. When the person on the other end received no response from Yadav, the relative informed the victim’s colleague to watch him.

When his colleagues reached the room, it was locked from the inside. They then notified the police. The cops then broke down the door and lowered the body. Police are now trying to find out who was on the phone with the deceased.

The victim is survived by a wife and a son. “We are verifying records of Yadav’s call details and will take further action based on the information. The family has not charged anyone so far,” said Rishipal Singh, SHO.
