Piano teacher talking to undercover detective he thought was child arrested at work, police say

A piano teacher at Scottsdale is under arrest after police said he unknowingly spoke with an undercover detective he believed to be a child, the department said.

“The Scottsdale Police Department’s Human Trafficking and Exploitation Unit has arrested Robert Paul Avril for aggravated luring a minor for sexual exploitation and supplying harmful material to a minor. Mr Avril communicated online with an undercover detective he believed to be a child and then engaged in a sexually explicit conversation where he released images and videos of himself,” police said May 3.

Avril is believed to be a piano teacher and he was arrested at work where police said he was “actively communicating with an undercover detective”.

“Although this investigation is ongoing, there is no specific information indicating that Mr. Avril had sexual contact with children at this time,” police said.
